Some Interpolation Problems Involving Interval Data

We consider interpolation of families of functions depending on a parameter by families of interpolation polynomials. Inner and outer inclusions for the interpolating families are constructed in terms of interval and extended interval arithmetic. We achieve tighter inclusions under certain monotonicity assumptions with respect to the parameters involved. Some interpolation polynomials involving...

Some data analyses using mutual information

This paper presents a number of data analyses making use of the concept of mutual information. Statistical uses of mutual information are seen to include: comparative studies, variable selection, estimation of pa rameters and assessment of model fit. The examples are taken from the fields of sports, neuroscience, and forest science. There is an Appendix providing proofs.

Some tractable instances of interval data minmax regret problems

In this paper, we provide polynomial and pseudopolynomial algorithms for classes of particular instances of interval data minmax regret graph problems. These classes are defined using a parameter that measures the distance from well known solvable instances. Tractable cases occur when the parameter is bounded by a constant.

EFFICIENCY MEASUREMENT OF NDEA WITH INTERVAL DATA

Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a non-parametric technique for evaluation of relative efficiency of decision making units described by multiple inputs and outputs. It is based on solving linear programming problems. Since 1978 when basic DEA model was introduced many its modifications were formulated. Among them are two or multi-stage models with serial or parallel structure often called net...

Analyses of injury count data: some do's and don'ts.

The analysis of injury data requires different considerations from the analysis of other types of outcomes because an individual can experience the outcome many times. When describing injury patterns using numerator-only data (e.g., proportion of upper-extremity injuries vs. lower-extremity injuries), simple comparisons of proportions are inappropriate because 1) individuals are compared with t...
